    I have a question for you Owen. Since I doubt I will take a sailing course this summer, is there a good sailing book I can read before I visit you later this year? I know nothing replaces actual practise.

      Hi Nanna

      I have not actually read any books other than the American Sailing Assocation’s Sailing Made Easy and Sailing Catamarans Made Easy, so that is all that I can recommend. It is also easyer to remember what everything is called when you can walk around and look at eveything.

    Thanks for the suggestions Owen. I wasn’t able to get either at the book store near me so picked up Sailing for dummies & ordered Cruising catamarans made easy by the American Sailing Association on-line. That will arrive in a week. Looking forward to learning at least something.

    Hi Owen;

    I understand you are helping your Dad with the electric stuff. How’s it going? Is it complicated to hook batteries & solar panels to the electrical system. Are you totally getting rid of the European system?

    Also, have you used your scuba diving skills yet? Or are you waiting til you get to the Mediterranean? I saw several divers at Ogden Point last week…..not today though….it was pretty rough out.

      Hi Nanna, I am doing fine. It is not that complicated to hook everything up, but it is pretty tedious to run wires all over the place and attach them to stuff. We are not done with the power system yet and still have to wire a lot of stuff up before we are done, but we still hope to have it almost done by the time that we start to cross the Atlantic. We are keeping the European style of wiring settup because it is very simmilar to the rest of the world so it will be easier to find parts that match. This means that our wall sockets us a schuko style plug and 220v power instead of the 120v power that North America uses. This means that we do not need extra large plugs for a drier or electric cooktop/oven. Unfortunatly we have not gone diving, or even swimming that much because we have a lot of boat work to do and need to get to Europe as soon as possible. I am hoping that we could buy dive gear somewhere in Europe before or when you are there. I have somewhat enjoied school especially because in Annapolis one day I had to do reading and writing and that consisted of me laying in a hammock with an iced tea and a book to read while 10 year olds in small sailing dinghies went around our boat.

      Hope you don’t fall again,
      Owen
