Changing the tunes

Random post (and the weekly blog is coming soon)

When I was young, my family drove around Europe for a month and many of our mornings started with my Dad singing ‘On the Road Again’. It became the theme song for the trip. I have found that on many of travel trips since, certains songs seem to pop into my head that seem to represent the trip that I am on. The same has happend on this trip. However, at different times, different tunes will pop into either my head or one of the kids starts singing something over and over again. Here are some that have come to us so far:

When we were in Carriacou, feeling like we were never going to leave. . .

“Austin’s Lament”, from Backyardingans (Yes, those songs still pop into my head years after the kids stopped watching the show)

When the heat was getting to us in the Caribbean. . .

“Ring of Fire”, Johnny Cash

When we were making time sailing up the coast. . . it was back to my childhood tune. . .

“On the Road Again”, Willie Nelson

And most recently, when everything on the boat was taken apart in the Chesapeake but we were about to put it all back together and improve the boat. . .

“The Edge of Glory”, Lady Gaga

Do other people find they do or think the same things on their trips?

I wonder what the theme will be as we cross the ocean. . .

Hahaha…I remember Dad singing that everyday. It still comes to mind on any road trip or long drive.
